Universal City Walk Orlando Florida

Being from Southern California we are very familiar with City Walk Hollywood. In fact it was the location of our first date and where we went the night Mark proposed to Kat (on the 6th anniversary of the first date). With the nostalgia tied around the Hollywood location this Orlando version really had to be something special to stand out.

When we first arrived Universal Orlando impressed us with inexpensive parking ($3). After locking the car we were faced with a long trek in but the sights, sounds, and comfortable temps made the evening stroll enjoyable… after-all CityWALK does include “WALK” in its name.

CityWalk Orlando, we found, was designed in a more spread out manner. Bordering a central lake the shops, restaurants, and bars were situated with majestic views of the skyline. From the pictures (below) you can gather that it is a pretty setting for a night out.

Walking out to the main atrium we found a live band “Orange Avenue” playing songs from their albums and covers of popular modern rock. The lead singer had a great voice and the band really rocked. They performed for well over 3 hours and drew a good crowd to the stage. We enjoyed their closing act later in the evening and eventually purchased copies of their two albums.

For dinner we enjoyed Hard Rock Cafe fare and were again impressed with friendly service (something we don’t usually get at CityWalk Hollywood).

For a Friday evening the place really never filled up so we ended the evening around midnight and headed back home.
